Privacy policy
It is important to TaalPro that you know what happens to your personal data. In this privacy policy we explain in plain language which data we collect, why we do so, how long we keep it and what rights you have. In case of any differences, the Dutch version prevails.

Which data do we process and why?
Contact form, email and WhatsApp
When you contact us, we process your name, email address, (optionally) your phone number and your message. We only use this data to answer your question.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering questions, or taking steps prior to entering into a contract if your question is about a course (Art. 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR).
Sign-up form
When you sign up for a course, we process your first and last name, email address, the chosen course and (optionally) your phone number, how long you have lived in the Netherlands, your date of birth and your comments. We use this data to contact you, schedule an intake, determine your level and organise your course.
Legal basis: taking steps prior to entering into a contract and performing the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Fields marked “(optional)” do not have to be filled in. Without the required fields we cannot process your sign-up.
Cancelling or withdrawing
If you cancel or withdraw from your course via taalpro.nl/en/cancel/, we process your name, email address, the course, (optionally) the date of enrolment and your additional information, plus the time at which we received your message. We send you a confirmation of this by email.
Legal basis: performance of the contract and a legal obligation (art. 6:230oa Dutch Civil Code; art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).
Level test, route finder and language suggestion
The free level test and the “Which exam do I need?” route finder run entirely in your own browser. Your answers are not sent to us and are not stored. If you then choose to sign up, we only pass your result (for example “A2” or “B1 route”) on to the sign-up form. You can see this in the form.
If you dismiss the language suggestion (“This page is also available in …”), your browser remembers this in local storage (localStorage). This is not a cookie and we cannot read it.
During your course

Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legal obligations, such as the tax retention obligation for invoices (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Spam protection
To protect our forms against spam, we use Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile checks technical characteristics of your browser to determine whether you are human. No tracking cookies are placed.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our forms and mailbox against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Website statistics
We anonymously measure how our website is used (for example which pages are visited often) with Cloudflare Web Analytics. This happens without cookies and without us being able to recognise you or follow you across other websites.
We also use Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine to count how often our tools are used. We only store what happened (for example “level test completed”, “click on WhatsApp” or “enrolment form sent”), the outcome in one word (for example “B1”), the language and the page. We do not store your IP address, browser details, answers, search terms or anything else that could identify you, and we place nothing on your device. The counts are deleted automatically after 3 months. If “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” is switched on in your browser, we do not measure this.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
Our website does not place cookies for tracking or advertising. A cookie banner is therefore not needed.
Who do we share your data with?
We never sell your data. We only share it with parties that help us deliver our service (processors), with whom we have made agreements about security and confidentiality.

How long do we keep your data?
- Questions via the contact form, email or WhatsApp: up to [INVULLEN: e.g. 12 months] after your question has been handled.
- Sign-ups that do not lead to a course: up to [INVULLEN: e.g. 12 months] after signing up.
- Student data: up to [INVULLEN: e.g. 2 years] after the end of your course.
- Invoices and financial records: 7 years (legal retention obligation).
Security
We take appropriate measures to protect your data against loss and unauthorised use. The website uses a secure connection (HTTPS). Form data is not stored on the website but sent directly to us by email.
Automated decision-making
We do not take decisions based solely on automated processing (such as profiling).
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data;
- have incorrect data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- have processing restricted;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive your data in a common format (data portability).
Send your request to info@taalpro.nl. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to identify yourself, so that we know for sure the request comes from you.
Filing a complaint
Not happy with how we handle your data? Let us know first, and we will look for a solution together. You always have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
We may change this privacy statement. The date at the top shows when the text was last changed.
