Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use our website: with a disability, on a phone, with a slow connection and in your own language.

What we do

• We build according to the WCAG 2.2 guidelines at level AA. With every change, automated tests check all pages in Dutch, English and Persian for accessibility.
• The whole website works with the keyboard. You can always see where you are, and “Skip to content” lets you skip the menu.
• Motion and animations are switched off if you have chosen “reduce motion” on your device.
• Text has sufficient contrast, and the website adapts to your screen size.
• The Persian version runs fully from right to left, with a typeface made for Farsi and Dari.
• Forms have clear labels and error messages, and work with a screen reader.
• The website is light and fast, even on an older phone or a slow connection.
• The free tools (level test, route finder, KNM practice) work without an account and without an email address.
• The KNM practice questions, the KNM word list and the glossary have a speaker button: your device reads the Dutch text aloud (if a Dutch voice is installed on your device).
• Difficult words such as PIP, MAP and BSN are explained in a glossary in plain language, also in English and Persian.

What can still be improved

• Not all information is available as audio or in plain language yet. We are working on it.
• The English and Persian texts are still being reviewed by native speakers.
