Who is this course for?

This course is for you if you want to pass the civic integration exam at A2 level (inburgeringsexamen A2). You need this exam if:

• you are obliged to integrate under the old act (before 2022);
• you want to become a Dutch citizen through naturalisation (naturalisatie);
• you want to apply for a permanent residence permit (verblijfsvergunning voor onbepaalde tijd).

Integrating under the Civic Integration Act 2021 (Wet inburgering 2021)? Then B1 is your goal, and this course is a good step on the way to B1.

The course builds on A1: you already know some basic words and simple sentences.

What you learn

You learn Dutch for everyday life and work on every part of the exam:

• Reading: understand short texts, letters, messages and forms, for example from the municipality or your children’s school.
• Listening: follow conversations, instructions and announcements, for example on public transport.
• Writing: write a short message or a simple email and fill in a form.
• Speaking: make an appointment with your GP or the municipality, ask something in a shop and talk about your work, your family and your free time.
• Knowledge of Dutch Society (Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij, KNM): how life in the Netherlands works, from work and housing to healthcare, education and your rights. You also learn the words you need for these topics.

You also build your vocabulary and learn the grammar you need at A2.

How the lessons work

You have one live lesson of one hour a week, online by video. You learn in a small group at A2 level. Prefer to learn on your own? Private lessons are also possible.

Don’t understand something? Your teacher explains it in Farsi, Dari or English. That way, difficult grammar makes sense too.

You pay per month.

The exam

The civic integration exam at A2 level consists of Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking and KNM. Depending on your situation, other parts may be added. You take the exam at DUO: Writing on paper, the other parts on a computer.

You register yourself via Mijn Inburgering, with your DigiD, and you pay for the exam yourself at DUO. The diploma comes from DUO, not from TaalPro.

In the course you practise every part, so you know what to expect. Not ready yet? Then we will tell you honestly.

Do you have a loan from DUO? TaalPro does not (yet) have the Blik op Werk quality mark. That is why you cannot use the loan for this course, but you can use it for your exam fees.

After this course

After A2 you can move on to B1. That is the level of State Exam NT2 I (Staatsexamen NT2 Programma I). In the B1 route of the Civic Integration Act 2021, these are your language exams. A State Exam NT2 I diploma also counts for naturalisation and is meant for work and for an MBO programme (vocational education). See the B1 course.
